Favorite attraction: Beyond the classics, we had a surprisingly good time hiking around Cinque Terre. Spending a night there means we could set out and walk around before (and after) all the cruise ship tourists descend upon it.

Place to eat: Trattoria Sostanza, Florence - the butter chicken is what they’re famous for, but the most surprising thing were these fresh white beans with nothing but a drizzle of local olive oil.

Romanè, Rome for all things offal. Boiled beef tongue, stewed tripe, and classic Roman pastas.

Place to drink: Wine is everywhere, so just enjoy what’s in your area. We did have a chance to explore some really interesting wines the friendly staff at RETROBOTTEGA in Rome.
