Taiwan

Breakfast - soy milk, chinese donuts, etc.
Fuhang Soy Milk - If you’re coming from the US you’ll probably be jet lagged. Go here early before the crowds show up and get everything, especially the salty soy milk.
Beef noodle soup
Lao Wang Ji Beef Noodles - For dessert, a few minutes walk away is Snow King Ice Cream which has lots of delicious normal flavors but some very weird experimental ones like seasame oil chicken and kaoliang.
Lin Dong Fang Beef Noodles - It’s a toss-up between Lao Wwang Ji and Lin Dong Fang for our favorite beef noodle soup. Lin Dong Fang starts off with a non-spicy broth and gives you chili butter so you can adjust it to your liking.
Mango shaved ice
Smoothie House - One of the most popular shaved ice places and always reliable. Also in the area: Yongkang Beef Noodles
and Sounds Good Cafe. Get the #10 Super Mango Snowflake Ice to double down on the mango.
Drink
There are so many good cocktail bars in Taipei - the scene has exploded in recent years. If I had to choose one, I’d go to Silver Lining. Their concept focuses on ferments and infusion, and all of their drinks and food play off that theme. There’s also two fun stationary stores in the area: Vision Stationary and TOOLS To LIVEBY.
Drinks: Anything! We went back multiple times just work through the whole menu.
Food: Ruwei (麻麻椒香滷味), Fried Chicken Cartilage (雞軟骨)
Non-food
Elephant Mountain - Short hike with awesome views of the city. Be prepared to be eaten alive by mosquitos.
Ningxia Night Market - Ok, this is also food and drink. But this neighborhood has lots of small shops up and down Dihua Street like 地衣荒物 Earthing Way for home goods or
Wangtea Lab | 當代茶吧 Modern Tea Bar for an upscale tea tasting experience.
Day-ish trips:
Jiufen - a slightly touristy but picturesque old town. Lots of tea houses with a Spirited Away vibe. Also close to the Houtong Cat Village.
